About AKS

WHAT IS "AKS" AN ACRONYM FOR?  (Everybody asks!):

AKS stands for Accongio, Keeler, and Shaw.  In 1996, following many successful years as both a player and coach, Scott and two business partners (Keeler and Shaw) took the skate industry by storm by creating and marketing the first metal skate chassis.  They sponsored a hockey team and AKS hockey was born!

WHO'S SCOTT ACCONGIO??????

Scott Accongio is a name that is well known in the hockey world.  He has played the sport for over 40 years, during which time he has won 25 state titles, 10 national skating titles, as well as having played on 4 USA Teams at the Olympic Festival.  Scott began coaching in 1989.  His experience has included coaching in the professional RHI League, coaching Team USA in 1992, and being on the coaching staff for the Anaheim Bullfrogs in 1993 and the CHIL in 1994.  Scott has the distinction of coaching the team that won the first National Title and gold medal at the first NARCh Finals (1994), held in St. Louis, MO.  In 1996, Scott took the Junior World Team to Chicago where they took 2nd place behind Canada and the Senior World Team to Italy where they took 1st place.  In 1997, he coached the Pan Am World Team in Ecuador to a 1st place victory.

This monthly fee DOES NOT cover the cost of the tournaments; however, AKS's       tournament fees will be primarily covered by the corporate support the team receives so as to significantly minimize this expense.  Registration fees for tournaments average $500-$800 per tournament, so we are very grateful for the MANY people and corporations that support our AKS players!!!
